Location of Jannatul Mualla
Al Hajun, also known as Jannat Al Mu’alla, is one kilometer north of the Holy Mosque. The walk takes about fifteen minutes. Interestingly, the 9-kilometer car or taxi journey takes the same time.
A long white wall surrounds the site. Identification marks are no longer present. Most people pay their respects to the entire location. There is no entrance fee. The cemetery is open throughout the year.

Distruction of Tombs
Following the destruction of Jannatul Baqi in Madinah, Abdulaziz bin Saud ordered the demolition of all tombs in Jannatul Mualla after the Saudis captured Makkah in 1925. The removal of the tombstones in 1926 encouraged anger among Muslims worldwide. There are no gravestones or tombs at the cemetery these days.
